Policies and FAQs

Our Policies

To provide the best possible care for our clients’ pets, we enforce the following policies.
We believe these policies act in the best interests of our Client and the Healthy Hounds Fitness Club team members.

Dog Eligibility & Behavior

To ensure every dog enjoys a safe, healthy, and positive experience, all dogs must meet these baseline criteria:

  • At least 6 months old for adventure hikes
  • Spayed or neutered for group activities
  • Friendly and non-aggressive toward people, other dogs, and wildlife
  • Comfortable riding in vehicles
  • Able to walk politely on-leash or working toward it
  • No history of resource guarding
  • Up to date on required vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP/Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella)
  • Free of contagious illnesses, parasites, fleas, and ticks
  • On a veterinarian-approved prevention program for fleas, ticks, and heartworm
  • For Boulder Open Space parks, dogs must have an active Voice & Sight Program Tag when off-leash.

Payments & Bookings

All services are charged in full at the time of booking to secure your dog’s spot. A current credit card on file is required, and automated payments keep everything smooth and secure. If payment details expire or fail, a processing fee is applied until updated.

Home Access

We treat your home with respect and clear procedures. All access is logged to protect your security and peace of mind.

  • Free-standing homes: we install a secure lockbox for key access (one-time setup fee unless you have coded entry).
  • Apartment/condo: leave keys, fob, or access card with concierge/front desk; our Coach checks in and out each visit.
  • Lockboxes are required if no concierge is available.

Cancellations & No Shows

Life happens — we get it. To keep schedules reliable for all members:

  • Cancellations must be made by 8 pm the night before scheduled sessions.
  • Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
  • Sessions do not roll over from month to month.

Online Reservations & Profile

All services must be booked through our online portal. Keeping your dog’s profile up to date enables Coaches to craft safe, personalized fitness sessions.

Friends & Family Access

For safety and insurance reasons, only residents of your home may be present during scheduled sessions. If unexpected individuals are on site, Coaches will contact you and may leave if access or supervision cannot be confirmed.

Holidays

We observe the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Weekend and Holiday services may be offered on request with applicable fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

A membership provides consistent, customized care each week with professional Coaches. Depending on your dog’s needs, that may include regular dog walks, structured fitness walks, adventure hikes, and other wellness-focused services. Members enjoy a recurring schedule, personalized care, progress updates, and access to exclusive member benefits, all designed to support your dog’s health, happiness, and overall wellbeing while helping create a more balanced routine throughout the week.

Your dog must meet age, behavior, vaccination, and health criteria (as outlined above) to ensure safe participation in structured walks, adventure hikes, and fitness activities

Yes — we offer trial sessions so you and your dog can experience what makes Healthy Hounds special before committing to a membership.

We tailor workout length to each dog’s needs rather than clock time. Sessions vary based on your dog’s age, breed, fitness level, comfort, and health. Some sessions may be shorter when appropriate.

Frequency depends on your dog’s age, energy level, lifestyle, health, and overall goals. We’ll help you choose the right routine based on what your dog needs most.

Before your dog’s session:

  • Ensure your profile is complete and intake forms signed.

  • Have your dog’s equipment out and ready for easy access when we arrive.

  • Feed your dog at least two hours before workouts to avoid discomfort.

  • Avoid offering water 30 minutes before exercise to reduce bloat risk.

We operate as a team-based company and assign a small team of Coaches (typically 2–3) to each home. This allows your dog to build familiarity with consistent faces while ensuring reliable coverage and scheduling flexibility.

Adventure hikes occur in dog-friendly Open Space and trail systems throughout the Front Range. For Boulder clients, we use approved Voice & Sight trails in accordance with Boulder city requirements.

We provide one-on-one sessions unless dogs are from the same household, in which case we can work multiple pets together.

It’s normal for dogs to feel relaxed, calm, or slightly tired after a canine massage session, especially during the first few visits as their body adjusts to this new experience.

Some dogs may be quieter than usual for 24–48 hours following a session. Providing fresh water, rest, and a calm environment will help support their comfort and recovery. If you ever have concerns about your dog’s response, we’re happy to discuss what you’re seeing.

Yes. While our massage membership includes one session per month, some dogs may benefit from more frequent care depending on their age, activity level, recovery needs, or overall condition. We’re happy to recommend what makes the most sense for your dog.

No, you do not need to be home. We require a secure lockbox or access plan so Coaches can safely retrieve and return your dog.

Colorado weather changes fast. We adjust sessions as needed, modifying routes, shortening workouts, or providing indoor enrichment to ensure your dog’s safety.

Weekend and holiday care is available upon request and subject to availability.

You’re more than welcome to skip or reschedule a session, we understand that life can get in the way sometimes. We just ask that all services be used within the same month they’re purchased, as sessions don’t roll over.

To make changes, simply contact us in advance so we can adjust your schedule and keep your pup’s fitness routine consistent.

Yes, memberships can be paused or canceled with one month’s advance notice. If you choose to pause, we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule and help your dog transition smoothly back into their routine when you return.
